One of the best reasons to pick Venice as a backdrop for wedding photos is canals. There are hundreds of small islands in the lagoon of Adriatic, and I would like to explore that side of this city. If you are open to it I would suggest using gondolas on the Grand canal because they are looking so romantic. However, if you are not a fan of floating, we can create some amazing photos from bridges and docks, all around the city.
Monumental buildings such as Saint Mark’s Basilica would look best in the early morning when there are a few people around. Also, we can take a moment and feed the pigeons in Saint Mark’s Square or use the Rialto bridge as a perfect background. There are also some cute smaller squares, and I love Campo San Stin and Campo San Boldo. Venice is home to many beautiful churches as well, and there is a church named after Santa Maria Della Salute which is very beautiful and romantic. In the backyard of church San Francesco Della Vigna, the atmosphere is like in movies about knights, and I am sure that some of the Netflix shows are filmed there.
So, those are just some of the places that I can recommend if you are interested in capturing wedding photos in Venice. In case you decide to hire me as your Venice wedding photographer, these locations could be our starting point, but I am open to your ideas and suggestions.
